Scuba-diving can be divided in different categories. Roughly speaking, there is the professional and the recreational diving. The professional diving is composed of different categories like dive instructor, underwater photographer, oil-rig diver etc..

At this homepage, I mainly will deal with the recreational diving. Diving is not a sport that you practise like soccer or football. On the one hand, diving is quite expensive if you run the sport intensive. On the other hand, there are some rules you should respect. The recreational diving is divided into holiday divers and divers who practise the sport the whole year.

The equipment is the most important element of scuba diving. But you should think twice if it is necessary to buy an equipment. I think for pure holiday divers it is certainly not necessary. Normaly you can borrow equipment at the divebases. I would suggest to buy the ABC-Equipment (Fins, Snorkel and mask).
