" Puerto Galera, Angeles City, Barlist Angeles City, Manila "

New: Carousel Bar is open now !!!

"Thriller in Manila", that was the slogan untill 1994. Around the M. H. del Pilar, just in the centre of Manila, the night live was terrific. Dozends of Bars, Restaurants and Go Go Bars opened their doors 24 hours and it was a big party place. After the election a new major was in town and his promise was to clean up the area -> he did it !!! He closed most of the Bars and “Ermita” was falling asleep. While in other parts of Metro Manila were other rules, many of the old bars moved. Today you find the night live in Pasay, Makati and in a couple of clubs besides the Roxas Boulevard.

Some of the old bars, like “Firehouse”, “Pit Stop”, “Cotton Club” and a couple of other bars and discos moved to the EDSA International Entertainment Complex (Pasay). It is worth while to start the evening there because all bars have a nice Happy Hour untill 9 pm. The night live in Makati etabilshed in the Burgos Street. The prices in Makati are much higher as in Pasay. After an ice cold San Miguel beer at the Hard Rock Café (Ayala Center) just enter the Burgos Street and enjoy the different clubs like "Dimples", "Rogues", "Wild West", "Jools", "Foxy's" and quite a few other bars and Discos.

Besides the Roxas Boulevard you mainly find restaurants karaoke bars and some of the best hotels in town (Hayett, Sheraton) but there are still some clubs like “Chaos” (formarly Vixens than Axions), “Fates” and “Visions”. The “Fates” (I don’t know if it is still the name) is one of the newest Clubs in town and offers also a nice Happy Hour untill 9 pm.

Just 90 Kilometres north of Manila you will find Angeles City. The US Air Force owned the biggest Airbase outside of the United States next to Angeles City (Clark Air Base). After the Americans left, begin of the nineties, many people thought that the night live will be leaving also. But the city grown up to a real party town. Most of the Hotels are renovated and the Fields Avenue offers you a great “Barhopping”.

of Angeles City

Travelling to Angeles City is quite easy. Just take one of the buses (e.g. Philippine Rabbit) which are running north (Dau or Angeles City) and get out when you arriving in Angeles (around 1,5-2 hours). An other possibility is to take  the “Fly the Bus” from Swagmann Travel (Aircon Bus with service) or a Taxi.

Most of the clubs have European standard and owned by Australians, Americans or Europeans. My favourites are the “Lancelot”, “Camelot”, “illusions”, "Blue Nile Exclusive" and the “Champagne”. The clubs are located around the Fields Avenue.

"Miss Beauty - Contests" are much more popular than in Europe. The winner of these contests relish a great social prestige and therefore all the time you will find some of these “Contests”. One of these contest is the famous “Wet T-Shirt Contest” ( a little bit different from the others) from Swagmann Travel. Beside the competition, it is one of the biggest party in town.

The night life in Puerto Galera happens mainly at the Sabang Beach. Nearly all restaurants und pubs are within walking distance. My favourites restaurants are “Le Bistrot”, “the restaurant at the Atlantis Resort” and “Lucky’s Saloon”. In the middle of the centre the Broadway is located, normally it's quite full and every weekend they have life music. Opposite of the “Broadway”  the “Pub” is located. After a great diving it is nice to start the evening there with a San Miguel draft beer. The formerly Club “Umbrella” closed a couple of years ago and the disco “Centrum” was opening. The three other clubs “Sun Set”, “Sabang Disco”, "Broadway Disco" and “Village Disco” are all located in the centre and looking forward to offer you a Rum & Coke and more.
